Gamepad Tester

Every answer in the Gamepad Tester guides is written or checked by the people who build and maintain the Gamepad Tester tools. This page explains who answers, how an answer earns the Verified badge, and how we keep answers current. It follows our main editorial standards.

Who Answers Your Questions

Questions are answered by the Gamepad Tester Team. Each member has a public profile listing their role, the controllers and topics they work on, and their hands-on experience. Community members can reply too, and their replies are shown separately from the team answer so you always know which is which.

How An Answer Gets The Verified Badge

  • The fix is reproduced on a real controller, or matched against the maker’s own support documentation from Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo or the controller brand.
  • The steps are run in order by a team member, and the controller, firmware, connection, operating system and browser used are listed under the answer as Tested On.
  • Readings such as deadzone percentages, polling rate and input latency are confirmed in our own browser tools before they are published, and the Gamepad API behaviour is checked against the W3C specification.
  • A second team member reads the answer before it is marked Verified.

How We Keep Answers Current

Each verified answer shows the date it was last checked. Answers are reviewed again at least every six months, or sooner when a console update, controller firmware release, driver or browser change alters the steps. When a player reports that a fix no longer works, the question goes straight back into the review queue.

Community Replies

Replies from players are moderated before they appear. A reply that solves the problem can be marked as the Accepted Solution by the team after it has been checked. Replies from the team show the member’s name, photo and profile.

Repair, Warranty And Safety

Our repair answers are general information. Opening a controller, replacing a thumbstick module or changing a battery can void your warranty and carries a real risk of damage or injury. Always check your warranty and the maker’s support options first, and use a qualified repair service if you are unsure.

Controller Reviews And Recommendations

We do not accept payment to recommend a controller or a brand. When we point to a product, it is because it solved the problem in the question. We say plainly when we have not tested something ourselves.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not charge for answers and we do not sell repairs.
  • We do not publish your email address. Screenshots are published only after review, and location data is removed from photos when they are uploaded.
  • We do not run your controller data through any server. Every Gamepad Tester tool runs in your own browser.
